====== Joining the Minecraft Server ======
===== Important Notes =====

**Before you can join**, you will need to be whitelisted by a server moderator. Reach out to one of us.

If the server was asleep, joining the server wakes it up. ===== Java Edition =====
  - Start up Minecraft Java Edition and select "Multiplayer"
  - Click "Add Server"
  - For the "Server Name", enter a descriptive name (Suggested: "SMC Minecraft")
  - For the server address, enter "minecraft.slowmochives.com"
  - Click "Done"
  - Double-click the server from your server list.

===== Bedrock Edition =====
The server uses GeyserMC to bridge the gap between the Bedrock client and the Java server. This means that you can connect to the SMC Minecraft server using any valid method for joining custom servers. The steps in [[https://www.gamepur.com/guides/how-to-set-up-and-connect-to-minecraft-servers-for-bedrock-crossplay|this article]] worked for me to join the server from Minecraft for Nintendo Switch.

In summary:

XBox and Switch:
  - Open Minecraft in your console of choice and sign out of your Microsoft account.
  - In your console's Network settings, change your DNS settings to use **104.238.130.180** as the primary server and **8.8.8.8** as the secondary server. This will vary, depending on your console.
  - Open Minecraft again and sign back in to your Microsoft account.
  - Click "Play" and then "Servers".
  - Join any server. It doesn't matter which server you join.
  - On the new "Server List" section, click "Connect to a Server".
  - For the Server Address, enter "bedrock.slowmochives.com".
  - For the Server Port, enter 19132 (should be set to this by default).
  - Optionally enter a Display Name (Suggested: "SMC Minecraft").
  - Optionally select the slider for "Add to server list". If you don't want to enter the server details every time you want to connect, I recommend enabling this.
  - Click "Submit".

Playstation:
  * Sony has gone to great lengths to prevent Bedrock players from joining non-Realms servers. However, there are methods that can be used to get around the protection, such as [[https://github.com/jhead/phantom|Phantom]]. I don't have a PlayStation to test this myself. If anyone is able to find a method, let me know and I can publish it.
